About Me
April Worthen, BCST, LMT, Herbalist
Hi, I’m April, and I’m passionate about supporting people to reclaim empowerment of their own health and well-being.
My interest in herbalism began as a young adult, after moving to the mountains of Colorado and discovering a love of exploring the wild lands and a fascination with the plants, in particular. I studied herbalism informally for many years, through books and plant walks with foraging experts, consultations with herbalists for my own health, my experience in using plants for my own wellness and experiencing their efficacy, as well as learning about and using herbs to support my children’s wellness over the years. Upon moving to the Pacific Northwest, I found myself in this abundantly green bioregion filled with new-to-me plants that I was eager to learn about and develop a relationship with. I participated in Wilderness Awareness School’s wild plant intensive class, in which we explored Washington State’s varied ecosystems and the plants dwelling therein. I then followed up with more foraging and herbalism classes with herbalist Rachael Witt, and finally took the plunge and deepened my studies through a clinical herbal program with the School of Evolutionary Herbalism, which prepared me for helping clients along their individual wellness journeys and creating custom herbal formulas to support them on that path.
In 2007, I also began a deep dive into learning about the human organism through hands-on bodywork. I completed the 1,000-hour Massage Therapy program with the Boulder College of Massage Therapy and had a private massage practice in Boulder, along with working at a physical therapy clinic. I also completed a 700-hour program in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy with the Colorado School of Energy Studies and added that service to my private practice. I now specialize in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, and while I no longer offer massage, I draw upon the knowledge and and skills I learned in massage school to support my work in Craniosacral Therapy. Through this work, I have learned a tremendous amount about our nervous systems and how trauma impacts us, and this is another passion area of mine. I love sharing how our nervous systems work and govern our entire bodies as well as passing on nervous system regulating tools that are easy to implement in daily life to help us to feel calm, safe and connected.
